Description

Coconut lagoon is located upon the Vembanad lake, one of India’s largest inland lakes with its own distinctive ecology that supports a plethora of natural life. There’s only one way to get to Coconut Lagoon: over the water. From our private jetty about a kilometer upstream, the boat ride over the lake’s gentle swells, past lazy coconut palms and houses, to the resort sets the tone of your holiday to come – exciting and novel, yet relaxed and nurturing! If you are a bird lover then Coconut Lagoon will give you many days of happy bird spotting. It will not be far fetched to say that the guest cottages at the coconut lagoon are individual works of art. They were built from the remnants of old mansions – tharavads, that were once the family homes of the nobility of the land. They were brought here in sections and painstakingly reassembled by skilled craftspeople so that you could experience first hand what it is to live in these ancient and celebrated houses of yore. In homage to the environment that supports and sustains us all, we have our very own sacred grove in the property. It is a piece of pristine ‘forest’ dedicated to nature, while keeping with a time honoured tradition.

Know More About The Coconut Lagoon :

Accommodation at the Coconut lagoon extends beyond the borders of mere comfort and contentment. We approach it as a distinctive experience and one that you will fondly recall for its uniqueness and variety. Every type of accommodation at our resort has its own mystique nested within it that will captivate you in its own way and manner. No two rooms are alike (just like us humans!) and have their own charms and secrets waiting to be discovered. Different as they are, every guest accommodation at the Coconut lagoon is united by an aesthetic agenda that is inspired and guided by ‘the regional’ and ‘the natural’. We have painstakingly sourced old furniture, artifacts and materials either directly from traditional manors or had them made by skilled craftspersons working with traditional materials to help manifest a rare holiday experience for you.

HERITAGE BUNGALOW

We have 27 Heritage Bungalows with a private sit out and a partly open-to-sky bathroom. All these rooms are twin bedded. One cottage has specially been designed for those physically challenged; and is a wheel chair friendly room with no steps, railings in the bathroom etc.

LAKE FRONT VILLA WITH PRIVATE POOL

We have 8 private pool villas which are all double. Each of these villas have a separate living room, a spacious bedroom, a passage, a private sit out, a closed bathroom and a much larger private pool.

Kerala is known to many for its dreamy waterways, misty mountains and bewitching coastlines. Its history and polity are no less reputed. But few know of the specialness of its cuisine – unique as it is enigmatic! At Aymanam, the lakeside restaurant at the Coconut lagoon, you will get initiated into the wonders of this distinct culinary tradition – real Kerala food, made with care as you would at home and served upon banana leaves to round off its authenticity. Look forward to age-old favorites of the region like fish curry and tapioca with crushed bird’s eye chilly – a dish for the fortunate, the venturesome and the hungry! Our buffet has rare recipes prized all around Kerala, that may be unknown to the outside world. No doubt a lot of these are centered around fish dishes, most notably ‘Karimeen’, the legendary Pearl spot fish of the backwaters. The nuances of its preparation are often the source of lengthy discourses(and arguments) among fish connoisseurs (yes there is such a tribe in this ancient land) who take their business – the fine art of fish preparation- quite seriously.

Aymanam

Aymanam is a specialty dining restaurant with an air of quaint serenity.

Ettukettu

The restaurant is built using the historic style of architecture known as ‘Ettukettu’, from where it finds its name.

Special moments are best lived at this iconic modern hotel ” Coconut Lagoon” in the city of India. Hotel has various options to make your special occasion , a memorable one.

Sunset Cruise

One of the best ways to enjoy the lake is to take our sunset cruise, an hour-long idyll with flute accompaniment. Water lovers might also enjoy taking an oar or punt-boat out on to the lake with one of the local fishermen, both for company and a steadying hand on the tiller. Within minutes, you’re in a watery universe, so quiet, you can hear your own blood pumping around your head.

Floating Tea Shop

The life around backwaters is so dependant on being able to float from one place to the other. Our floating tea shop represents one of the aspects of this way of living. This also is a chance to meet our own Tea Lady from the village near the resort.
